Signs it's the battery or the starter
A slow crank, a single click and no start, a battery light, or lights that dim when you turn the key are the usual calls. A click with a dark dash is often the battery. Sometimes it is a starter, a cable, or a charging system that has been dying quietly. We test before we sell you a part.
If the car cranks slowly only in the morning and then starts fine, still have it tested. Heat and short trips hide a weak battery until the one morning it does not recover. We would rather test it in the driveway than have you buy a battery at a parts counter and still have the same click.
