Heat, short trips, and slow leaks
Compressors and condensers live a hard life here: 90-degree soaks, I-4 idle, and UV on the front of the car. Rubber lines dry. Condensers take rocks. A system that was 'a little weak' in March is empty in August.
A recharge only works if the system holds. If it is on empty, something leaked. Dye and gauges first, cans of refrigerant later.
What you can check before you call
Is it air with no cold, or no air at all? No air is often a blower or blend door. Warm air with the compressor not clicking is charge or clutch. A screaming compressor is a different conversation.
Cabin filter: if the air is weak and smells like a wet towel, start there. We can replace it on the visit.
